However, an encounter with a strange young girl, Sierra-star, a rebel and vigilante, throws off Hylam’s sense of order. Though due to her rebel status, Hylam must bring her to justice. While Hylam is making the search and arrest of Sierra his number one priority, he begins to realize that she is leading him to a government conspiracy: someone from the Divine Council has entered the underworld and started their own criminal enterprise, and Hylam needs to quickly find out who and why before the kingdom becomes completely controlled by the shadows.

History

The Mirabell continent was once a bustling medieval continent, and humans were regarded as the lowest race in a country that was filled with a great diversity of races, known as “clans” with special traits that elevated them above the humans. Humans were often mistreated and used as slaves as a result of this. All of this sparked The Great Clan War. Urged on by the devilish new leader of the Kodiet clan, Brayden, a mass genocide of the other clans was initiated, thus reducing the once-great diversity of clans to only five: Kodiet, Roshanti, Fulor, Serevi, and Drek. As the Great War reached its climax, the humans slowly began to resurface, having bided their time, researching the specific weaknesses of the major clans. A group of 12 humans wiped out the most violent clans the Kodiet and Roshanti in one night and were forever celebrated as The 12 Heroes of Legend. The Fulor, Serevi and Drek clans were allowed to retreat and continue their lives unaffected by human life, though regulations were put in place to ensure they stayed in their own encampments. The city of Syaso was reinvented as the hub for human government, also becoming their major working capital, and a council of nobility was swiftly established to rule the lands. This new regime has only been in place for 14 years.

In the past, the discovery of a new ore skyrocketed technological advancements to a record high. Galentite is a crystal that emanates a strange energy. Humanity discovered too late that this crystal was radioactive. The sickness it brought on caused countless deaths, though it also caused mutations. People were able to harness this energy in their bodies, becoming beneficial warriors to any front. Warrior races like the Kodiet forcefully exposed children to Galentite to unlock this power. For years, Mirabell has been recovering from a massive population reduction due to this substance. The harnessing of this element has become a safe process for special teams, manufacturing the crystal into non-radioactive form (Cryn), which this is used to forge weapons as well as allowing power plants the ability to give “safe” energy to citizens. The energy can only be charged through Cryn, or a person’s body (it has strange relations to human physiology that scholars have yet to discover). Regulation in recent years has been harsh. The King has issued all Galentite be gathered up and stored in the castle so that the citizens are safe from its harmful effects. Though not all citizens agree with this sentiment. A rebellion formed to try and reclaim this ore for the people, however, the rebels themselves have been quiet for a while.
